i'm so busy being inspired by everything. really. and. truly. everything. i'm sorry i've forgotten to be diligent here... but i think of the things i want to write so often, but of course get distracted by the sparkly things that fly past my kinesphere.

I p.r.o.m.i.s.e. I will not become one of those ladies who blogs about her cat. Buuuuuuuut, you've got to meet him. Because, he's brilliant. And I mean that objectively, of course.
Xavier.
We met last April at the SPCA. I like to think that he chose me. I saw a bunch of furry guys and gals, but this is the one that walked right up to me and sat on my lap. We've been in love ever since.

It's not even possible to resist... so please, don't even try.
He's brilliant though, and has amazing party tricks in the Feldenkrais realm of moving. He can do banana rolls, slow motion somersaults and chooses to dismount from the couch by log rolling the foot and a half drop to the floor. I've been trying like mad to video the genius, but he's like me and is distracted by sparkly things. So by the time I've pulled out my device and figured out how to work the darn thing, he's moved on to window perching and people watching. Such is life. I'll get it one of these days.
We're soul mates. You'll love him too.
Contact...
9.18.2011
There's a lot going on these days. I spent the last 24 hours sitting with a friend. Just sitting... sometimes laying. But, we just existed together, human contact. He's detoxing at the moment and needed to be near another person. And I was lucky enough to be that person. (That's not sarcastic, btw).
But, it reminds me how smart our bodies can be. On a cellular level, they are brilliant geniuses. Always fighting to keep us healthy and to get the toxins out.
Sitting with AK also reminded me how powerful human contact is. Skin to skin or even just one body in close proximity to another. When I took a brief seminar in Movement /Dance Therapy in grad school we discussed the value of just sitting with someone. One part of your body touching his/hers. There's that brilliant scene in Little Miss Sunshine when Dwayne finds out he is color-blind. He melts. Color blind folk can't fly planes So, Olive, his sister, sits next to him. Head on his shoulder. No words exchanged. Just contact. Recovery begins.
So my dears, put some human contact into your lives this week. It's a beautiful thing... whether you realize you need it or not, my guess is you'll be happy when you've got it.

spirals...
You may or may not be aware... that I am obsessed with Irene Dowd's spirals. She designed the movement patterns as a warm and cool down for dancers, moving through extreme ranges of motion. Whenever I do spirals my body is so happy. However, since I finished up at SLC, I have managed to forget bits and pieces of the movement series. So, in search for any version... I came across this video by Ela Spalding, inspired by spirals... I love it. Hope you do to!
